Since the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine and the State Administration for Market Regulation released the first batch of mandatory product certification for fire protection products in December 2001, the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine, the Ministry of Public Security, and the State Administration for Market Regulation jointly issued the "Announcement on the Implementation of Mandatory Certification for Some Fire Protection Products" (No. 55 of 2011), deciding to implement mandatory product certification for 31 types of fire protection products in 7 major categories. According to the Announcement, starting from October 1, 2011, clients can submit certification commissions for certified products to designated certification agencies; Starting from January 1, 2013, fire protection products listed in the mandatory product certification catalog that have not obtained the mandatory product certification certificate and have not been marked with the mandatory certification mark are not allowed to leave the factory, sell, import or use in other business activities.

The fire protection product catalog announced this time is: sprinkler fire extinguishing products (including early suppression rapid response sprinkler heads, expanded coverage sprinkler heads, water mist sprinkler heads, water curtain sprinkler heads, dry alarm valves, rain shower alarm valves, fire universal valves, and household sprinkler heads); Fire hose (fire hose reel); Fire alarm products (electrical fire monitoring system, special fire detector, point type ultraviolet flame detector, fireproof rolling shutter controller, fire sound and/or light alarm, fire display panel, linear beam smoke detector, fire hydrant button); Foam extinguishing equipment products (foam mixing device, foam generator, foam pump, special valves and accessories, foam spraying device, foam hydrant box, portable foam extinguishing device, closed foam water sprinkler); Extinguishing agent products (including gas extinguishing agent, foam extinguishing agent, dry powder extinguishing agent, water extinguishing agent); Fire equipment products (positive pressure fire air breathing apparatus); Building fire-resistant components (fireproof windows).

Publishing the catalog of fire protection products that require mandatory product certification is an important measure to implement the Fire Protection Law, Product Quality Law, and Certification and Accreditation Regulations, and strengthen the quality management of fire protection products. Since May 2009, the Fire Department of the Ministry of Public Security has actively coordinated with the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine and the State Administration for Market Regulation to promote the quality certification of fire products. After repeated research, demonstration, and reporting to WTO/TBT member countries for opinions, the preparation work for the release of the mandatory product certification catalog has been completed, and a formal announcement was recently released.
